I screwed up 💩 choosing a CRM. My lessons ⤵️. PS, don’t use Kommo.
Products like Ignia’s Action Lab (high-ticket B2C) have a funnel with lots of leads and few closes. To not lose track, you need to stay organized.
The experts told me “go with something simple or well-known and switch if you need to later.” Sheets, ClickUp, or Hubspot and that’s it.
Buuuut I got obsessed (red flag 🚩) with a CRM that had WhatsApp + Instagram integration, AI built right in, wasn’t too expensive, easy for the whole team to use, this and that and the other thing.
I didn’t listen to the experts (red flag 🚩). After asking around a lot, Kommo came up like twice in WhatsApp groups… Hubspot and Pipedrive came up 100 times but hey, I screwed up 🙈.
It looked perfect. Everything I wanted. The demo blew me away. I immediately paid for a 6-month contract and started using it. MASSIVE RED FLAG 🚩🚩🚩 — I never tested it thoroughly myself.
Well, it doesn’t work like they sell it :( The interface is old and slow. The AI features are half-baked. Instagram interactions get lost. THE WHATSAPP INTEGRATION DOESN’T WORK 😭. Customer service is terrible — hours or days to respond.
I asked for a refund (we’ll see if it comes). And just switched to something simple in ClickUp.
The worst red flag 🚩: turns out almost none of our leads write to us through WhatsApp or Instagram. 99% come straight to the website and leave their info. My whole obsession was based on a false assumption 🫠
The lesson: KISS — Keep it simple, stupid. And listen to people who know more than you.
When we’re ready to grow a bit more — what CRM do you recommend?
