This post comes from a place of pride — for innovation, for Bogotá, and for Natalia Rodríguez Triana (although maybe the order is reversed).

I’m at #festIBO, Bogotá’s Public Innovation Festival. Learning how, even in the public sector, prototyping and innovation IS possible.

Organized by IBO Laboratorio de Innovación Pública de Bogotá. Recently institutionalized — proving that the city actually believes in investing in innovation.

Just recently, led by Natalia Rodríguez Triana — the new Director (and my wife, lucky me ❤️). Showing that design doesn’t just have a place in the public sector — it can be its engine.

It’s incredible to see Natalia and her team not just fighting for innovation to happen — but for it to be demanded by the city’s own institutions.

World-class speakers, open workshops, citizen participation — impeccable design for a great event. You should sign up for the next one now.

A few years ago we read “We The Possibility” by Mitchell Weiss — an incredible book that awakens the passion for public sector innovation, for believing it’s actually possible — through real examples from around the world.

Today I see that passion, execution, and real results in Bogotá. In IBO. In Natalia. What a moment to be proud of 🚀 As Natalia said in her talk — the future isn’t predicted. It’s designed.
