Another gem from Feel-Good Productivity — If X then Y. Perfect for early-year goals 🙌
If we want to achieve things, we need a purpose or direction. To move in that direction, we need goals. And to hit the goals, we need to execute specific actions.
And one of the best techniques to actually do the actions is to attach them to a “Trigger” — If X, then Y.
Examples:
𝐈𝐟 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧
𝐈𝐟 I put my head on the pillow at night, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 I’ll put my phone on the nightstand and read at least 2 pages of my book.
𝐈𝐟 I receive my paycheck, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 I’ll automatically transfer 10% to my investment account before paying anything else.
𝐈𝐟 I meet someone interesting at an event, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 I’ll send them a LinkedIn request with a personalized note before leaving the building.
The idea is to tie desired behaviors to existing routines — so they get triggered automatically in your mind.
