Why Is There No Modern Investment Ecosystem for Startup-Minded 'Traditional' Companies?

Why doesn’t there exist a modern investment ecosystem around “traditional” companies? Those that aren’t trying to be a tech unicorn 🦄 but want to be sustainable and profitable.

Why aren’t there funds focused on companies like Sajú, or Armatura, or Pércimon, or Libertario Coffee Roasters?

Companies that by definition can’t or don’t want to be “tech unicorns” but are run by teams with that exact startup mindset 🚀

I recently met a watch company. Revenue of ~$200k USD a year… with 40% EBITDA 🤯 — through product innovation, process automation, and daily hustle.

Insane — investors should be fighting over it to take it to $10M USD.

It could be simple. An equity fund for early stages (like the watch company), or debt for more mature ones (like an Armatura).

Maybe even one that recovers the investment through profits, not a company sale. Is going back to the old-school model that crazy?

Who invests in that type of company? A bank — with expensive debt, only if you’re already well-established. For everyone else… nobody?

I’ve talked to a few people and they don’t think it’s such a crazy idea. Luz Mila Lancheros Carvajal, Miguel Vanegas Torres, Andrés Felipe Pulido, and more.

Honest question: Does this ecosystem already exist and I just haven’t found it?
