Learning to Let Things Die: The Other Side of Focus

Learning to let things die is part of “saying no” ☠️

I’ve already shut down 2 companies — actually taking the step to close them was never easy. Many businesses stay zombie, stuck in a “we’ll see if it comes back to life” state.

Letting a friendship “die” when it no longer adds anything — incredibly hard, especially if it’s been a long one.

Letting go of dreams that no longer fit or aren’t realistic anymore. I always wanted to be a video game designer 🎮, have my own studio, crush it in that world — it just doesn’t fit my life anymore.

Shutting down projects that sounded amazing. I’ve got about 10 domains in my backlog with business ideas behind them that sound super promising, but I can’t do them right now.

To focus, you need to decide what to say yes to, what to say no to — but also what to say “it’s done” to.

This year, I’m letting go of some things to make room for what I’ve committed to — my family 100%, Ignia growing 3X, exercise and reading.

What are you giving up? How do you choose what’s worth letting go?
