Utopias do exist. We already have one in Colombia.
Fernando Molano Mateus proved it to us in 60 minutes with Proyecto Utopía — agriculture + entrepreneurship education, 100% oriented around doing.
While researching for Ignia, I found 2 benchmarks in Colombia that were already doing something close to what we wanted to achieve: Utopía and UniEmpresarial.
Utopía is incredible. It’s a rural campus — students have to go live there to attend classes. It’s in Casanare, 13km from Yopal.
The campus is built around practice, not theory — they have crops, animals, machinery, and all the tools of real agricultural work right there on site.
Students learn by doing every day, immersed in reality — not in theory.
There’s an incredible level of social cohesion. Students from all socioeconomic backgrounds, with very different life experiences.
Strong focus on leadership and entrepreneurship — learning how to put their knowledge and skills to productive use.
A massive inspiration. Thanks Fer for sharing so much yesterday.
