Purpose and life path. What are we passionate about? How can we build from that?
Yesterday, a coffee with Miguel Vanegas Torres had me thinking — how do we build from what fills our hearts (while also making it profitable!).
I wish we had more ventures and companies born from the heart and fewer born from the desire to become giants. If they become giants — awesome. And yes, they need to generate returns.
But if they don’t connect us on a deeper level — what keeps us going after 2 years? After 5? After 20?
The Ikigai framework is pretty overused, maybe. But out of everything it says, the part I hold onto most is: do something you love AND that’s profitable. Being good at it — that’s learnable. Making it something the world needs — that happens through iteration. But if you don’t feel connected to it and it’s not profitable — it won’t last.
What do you think? Does it actually matter to work on things you love? I spent 10 years building in areas I didn’t love and, honestly, I did fine — maybe I’m giving this too much weight now…
