Most schools DON’T TAKE THEIR ADMISSIONS PROCESS SERIOUSLY ☠️ How do they expect to compete?

This past Saturday my wife and I went on one of our last school visits for our kids. We only have one left on our list.

Very few actually design the experience — for the most part it’s the same tired formula: arrive, principal’s presentation, student tour, bye.

Some don’t even bother 🫠. You show up, nobody clearly greets you, they make parents wait around, then someone answers questions (no intro) and you get the student tour.

One of the European schools in Bogotá (see if you can guess which one) sent us running out the door — the visit was completely improvised.

Out of everything we’ve seen, only one school puts in SERIOUS effort 🚀 — they design the spaces with music and real experiences, way beyond a basic PowerPoint. Showcasing extracurriculars, facilities, real before-and-after stories (with photos and videos) of students, panels… Not a boring slide deck.

That one isn’t our top choice, for other reasons. But the admissions experience blew us away.

As María Alejandra F. put it — a great experience isn’t a reason to choose a school, but a bad one is a reason to cross it off the list ❌

Education needs to reinvent itself — from every angle. Including how it shows itself off and sells itself.

How do you think the admissions process could work better at educational institutions? Kindergartens, schools, universities — I think they all have a lot of room to improve.
